How to wear shoes without socks
I like the shoes-without-socks look, but I have no idea how to pull it off. Any tips?
With the warmer months just around the corner, it’s a great time of year to have fun with your style. While it may seem like forgoing socks is a style choice reserved for glossy magazine spreads, I assure you it’s much easier to achieve than you may think. Here are my ideas:
Pair your shoe of choice (loafers tend to work best) with a slim-cut, slightly-cropped pant. If you opt for tailored trousers, ask your tailor for a no break hem, where the cuff just rests above the shoe. If you’re wearing a more informal chino, a casual roll will do the trick.
At the end of the day, particularly if it’s a warm one, insert adjustable cedar shoe trees into your shoes to retain the shoe’s shape. The untreated cedar will also naturally deodorize your shoes, soak up excess moisture and preserve the leather.
If going sans socks isn’t for you, but the style most definitely is, buy yourself a few pairs of loafer liners. These paper-thin, below-the-ankle socks will wick away perspiration while helping you achieve the look you love.
If you were wearing any other shoe, I’d say to be sure they’re properly broken in before leaving your socks at home—bare skin, hot days and new shoes are a recipe for disaster. BUT. Our flexible shoe construction, super-soft leathers, and performance-focused design makes it easy to step out without socks from the first wear, making it easy for you to be comfortable and on-trend all season long.
