ARMANDO CABRAL HAS INTERESTING FRIENDS. This simple truth should evoke little-to-no surprise given the man’s extensive history of collaborating with the best photographers, editors, directors, and stylists the world over. Appreciating the caliber of talented company kept, we wanted to develop a workspace for these individuals to do what they do best: create.
Welcome toCOLLECTIVE, a collaborative series that brings our friends from different reaches of the art world together to develop a unique take on Armando Cabral.
“This is simply our way of bringing together the
creative friends of Armando Cabral”
This edition of Collective features warm weather looks from our friends, photographer PAUL JUNG and stylist ASHLEY OWENS. Both New York based – each in possession of a body of work that spans the most notable brands and publications around.
A true auteur in every sense, PAUL’s unique aesthetic and work in both photo and film has been featured by everyone from Volvo to Vogue. Last year, Paul was declared ‘One to Watch’ by W Magazine.
ASHLEY’s resume too runs the fashion gamut. Having started her career as a designer working under tailor extraordinaire Rocco Ciccarelli, she’s since moved on to start her site GrandpaStyle.com, and develop features for the likes of MR PORTER, Warby Parker, and KRISVANASSCHE (to name a few).
IN THEIR WORDS
“Paul’s photography captures a minimalist aesthetic and movement that reflects real moments, evoking a connection to the viewer. Ashley’s take on fashion is what we’re missing in fashion today – quality over quantity. She cares about the product and details rather then the brand itself.”
“I wanted to explore using the bodies as expressive shapes, punctuated by the shoes as the focal point. Which for me was a very nice exploration.”
“I was inspired by the sartorial quality of the Armando Cabral shoes. They are well crafted and classically designed and I wanted to make sure that the styling carried the same quality through. It was important to create something that is timeless yet modern and relevant.”
